Jacob and I just came back from a three day trip to Lake Powell with his family. With only a few weeks left of summer to enjoy (so sad!) this was certainly a good last trip before the fall weather hits!
I am seriously in “awe” of how beautiful this little desert oasis was. I’ve had so many friends talk about Lake Powell and how amazing it is, but I never knew what all the rage was about until now. Seriously, not only was the lake HUGE and the water beyond blue, but there were stunning red cliffs and hidden canyons everywhere you looked. I literally have never seen anything like it.
I was also surprised that there were SO many boats on the water, yet we hardly ran into anyone else because of the lake’s massive size! It was quite impressive. We got to spend two full days in our 14-seater speed boat – water skiing (my mother-in-law is a pro!), wake boarding, tubing, kneeboarding, you name it. I gave everything a try, but was only successful at kneeboarding starting from the beach…I guess that’s pretty good for first-timer! Jacob was able to get up on the wakeboard for a bit, which was fun to watch. He definitely did better than I did.
We rented a beautiful Airbnb that was a short distance away from the lake, which meant we had plenty of time on the water. And that also meant we got to sport some nice tans (errr…sunburns…) from soaking in the sun all day. We definitely had a blast on this trip. It was sooo hard to come home to reality! Let’s just say, I’m ready to head to Lake Powell again for round two. And maybe I’ll be able to get up on the wakeboard next year…
Here’s some of the highlights from the trip. Enjoy!
Check out that beautiful landscape!
Practicing for my first time kneeboarding!
Beautiful rainstorm right outside of our Airbnb.
Of course, when you visit Lake Powell you have to visit Horseshoe Bend. Breathtaking.
P.S. My beautiful and talented sister-in-law took a couple of the photos featured in this post. If you love to look at BEAUTIFUL photography, then you definitely need to go check out her website! She’s amazing!
